I happened to pass through juhu the other day and saw a big crowd outside amitabh bachchans residence at around ten at night. Twelwe or thirteen OB vans from varioustop TV channels, with their journalists in full action. I was a bit concerned i thought may be the mega star is unwell or something serious has taken place.The electronic media was in frenzy.
I came home and switched on the television to check the headlines and what i saw put my head down in shame.
The Media had managed to capture a 15 second clip of jaya jee and aishwarya jee passing from one floor to another at their juhu residence in a saree for the karva chauth vrat...
and the hungry nation of India was blessed to see thier Gods in that moment of glory..Mega news.. scoop, breaking news...
dozens of OB vans, super intelligent media journalists and anchors from some of the best channels..reporting direct from the Bachchan temple... WE JUST SAW AISH COMING DOWN IN A SAREE...
where is their education and class?? millions and crores of rupees of infrastructure airtime and manpower to cover a 15 seconds of what??Yes we have the money, but cant buy good tastes... We may have learnt to speak english fluently, wear clothes, make hair and flaunt a style..
But that still doesnt change the ever spitting on the road, honking and driving like a madman and using gaalis at the drop of a hat indian into a refined being.
How low can we go.. what entertains us really shows what we are..It is shameful.. we still behave like slaves.. And media only caters to what the people expect.
what a curse upon this land that smells of stench on every corner but is so enamoured by the fake glamour of the superstars..
only if these GODS of INDIA had done done anything worthwhile to deserve this worship.. except greed..
And surprisingly even the TRUE GOD cannot help INDIA, because we have replaced HIM by fake and mortal GODS..

ReplyDeleteIf you are a true follower of the Lord Jesus Christ it makes no difference whether you are poor, rich, wage-slave, bossman, woman or man...all are equal at the foot of the CROSS. All we are and have belongs to Him.
ReplyDeleteThe pity is on those who think this world is all there is and have their focus on "stuff" and "fame" and "privelege". For it is SO temporary. Only what is done for OTHERS in Jesus' name will matter in the next world. Keep the Bible as your guide and share it with others.
Who is this True God who will supposedly help India? The same God who appeared in George Bush's dream and ordered him to attack Iraq? Does this God have a vested interest in building up oil reserves of the US? Who knows, maybe he owns a few shares in the stock market! Why don't you do something, go find out if there are any christian nations that can boast of a peaceful existence, both internally and externally. And also, if possible, do explain why Godless countries like Sweden and Norway always trump the happiness index polls: lesser crimes, fewer acts of violence, more freedom of speech, fewer divorces etc. Do that before you point a finger at a nation that lets you speak your mind freely. Do you think you could've written anything even remotely as offensive as this in an Islamist country?

ReplyDeleteThe so-called Christian nations are not Christian in any way any longer, so do not be angry if they act like pagans, which they basically are. As G.K.Chesterton once said, "It is not that Christianity doesn't work, rather that it has never really been tried." Only in the very beginning of the experiment in representative democracy known as America, the first two generations of Puritan founders and the first couple of generations of the first government leaders did America act according to the Scriptures. They lived according to the Scriptures and it made a difference in the laws and customs of the land. The West has gone SO FAR away from this that all that you rightly say is true. They hypocritically call themselves Christians but deny the power of it. Broken lightbulbs that don't light up. But that does not mean that the TRUTH has changed. Truth is truth and God is God. He has not moved, we have. God reveals Himself in Scripture and He is good and His will towards us is for people to be like Him in every aspect. But without help we can't. If we reject the help offered...Christ's sacrifice, we end up in a mess, a law unto ourselves, doing what is right in our own eyes and everyone selfishly having a different opinion of what that is. Christ makes a difference in attitudes. In the individual lives where He is a reality, these people have the power to say "no" to their baser instincts and to think of others before themselves, to forgive enemies and do good to those who persecute them, to truly be charitable with no thought of self. They do this out of gratitude for the fact that their sins are forgiven and heaven is now their future. For what the innocent, sinless Christ did on the cross...to take on Himself the punishment a just God had dole out on sinners. Then when He came back to life, by the power of God, that POWER is given to His followers to enable them to live according to God's will. Otherwise, they would live as you rightly point out...selfishly and with no regard for others.
"...what entertains us really shows what we are." Wow...that is a good statement. spending crores on 15 seconds of video for a god that the world worships is a waste of resources. How can you blame the government when the private sector does this? And who will pay up? The common man, in the form of increased prices of packaged products that are advertised to fund these TV channels.
ReplyDeleteWe need to organize a National Pray4India Day across churches, and pray for our leaders, our country's development and national security (internal and external).
